CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE FATHERS

On September 29, 1592, the feast of St. Michael Archangel, in Isle-sur-Sorgue, the Congregation of the Christian Doctrine Fathers was founded by Cesar de Bus.  Initially the goal of the congregation, priests and lay men and women, was teaching os catechism.  On July 27, 1598 Mons. Bordini, Archbishop of Avignon instituted the Congregation with the aim of Teaching the Christian Doctrine on Sundays and on Feast days'.  At the end of 1600 a Brief from Clement VIII approved the Congregation.  Its motto was 'Give glory to the Lord by teaching the doctrine'.
