CONGREGATION OF MOTHER OF CARMEL The CMC was the first Congregation for women started in India. It was founded by Bl. Kuriakose Elias Chavara and Fr. Leopold OCD at Koonammavu in Kerala on 13.02.1866. The Congregation has a Carmelite spirituality and charism. Members try to be in constant communication with the Divine Guest dwelling in the centre of their heart. Theirs is a simple lifestyle. They serve the people through various apostolic activities as the need arises. From 1998 till 2001 the Sisters worked at Ormanjhi, where they have been succeeded by the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, as they have moved to P.N. Bose Compound, Ranchi.
