FRANCISCAN MISSIONARY BROTHERS Assisi Ashram, Samlong is the first centre of the Franciscan Missionary Brothers in Bihar and in Ranchi. It was established in 1968 by Bro. Alphonse Sequira. Initially the Brothers took over the responsibility of running the Nirmala Middle School of the Samlong Parish, which was later on handed over to the diocese. The present residence, Assisi Ashram, was bought in 1969. To look after the educational needs of the poor around, the society opened a Hindi medium school in the year 1974 and it is named as Assisi High School, after its patron Saint. The construction of the new school building was over by 1978 and a full-fledged school started functioning. For fostering the local vocations, the society started an aspirant in 1985. The main activities of the congregation in the Archdiocese are centred in helping the parish activities, family visits, formation house and school.
