(DAUGHTERS OF MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS) SALESIAN SISTERS OF ST. JOHN BOSCO

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) known as Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco was founded in Italy - Morinese in 1872 by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Domenica Mazarello.  The Sisters began their presence in Sahera, Namkum at the request of His Grace Telesphore P. Toppo in 1991 and opened an English medium school to give integral formation to the Tribal children of the locality.  It is also the Noviciate for the Calcutta Province.  In order to give expression to their charism, on Sundays the novices conduct an oratory in the campus for the children of the area.  In 1996 an Agro based non-formal training centre was started for the rural poor, to impart skills training in animal husbandry related activities, intensive course for six months.  These girls remain in the boarding and receive an all-round formation.  They take active part in animating liturgy, teaching catechism, family visit and youth animation in two sub-centres of the parish.
