INDIAN MISSIONARY SOCIETY The Indian Missionary Society is a national Missionary Congregation founded by Fr. Gaspar A. Pinto in 1941. On March 13, 1945 the Society was canonically erected as a Clerical Society without vows under the patronage of Sts. Peter and Paul. The Founder's successor, Msgr. Jose A.E. Fernandez, prepared a new constitution. On January 25, 1953, with the approval of the Holy See, the Congregation became a Clerical Religious Society with vows. The two main aims of the Society are pioneering evangelization and inculturation. The IMS accepted the mission station of Sidrol from the Archdiocese of Ranchi for pioneering evangelization in 1991.
