Matric Toppers Awarded

Ranchi,June 3:  "Success is the door of your life, which is opened for you today.  Therefore, recognize each and every moment of your life with great confidence, use it and keep on the same spirit," Bishop Vincent Barwa told the students who were felicitated for excelling in the Matriculation examination, at St. Joseph's club, Ranchi.  In all 60 students from 20 Catholic Schools received the award for excellence.  Congratulations to all the Toppers and their Teachers!

Shantwana celebrates anniversary

Kokar, June 16: The Shantwana Community, known for animating youngsters with effective inputs for spiritual growth celebrated its anniversary.  On the auspicious occasion, Bishop Vincent Barwa, who celebrated the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist along with Fr. Dhiraj Shabu, ims, Director of Shantwana Community, applauded the Fathers and the community for their wonderful work.  Around 150 Christian and non-Christian young boys and girls participated in the Mass.

Annual Clergy Meeting Held

SDC, June 12: The annual Clergy Meeting was held at the SDC, Ranchi which was chaired by His Eminence, Telesphore P. Cardinal Toppo and Auxiliary Bishop Vincent Barwa.  Prominent laypersons were especially invited to share their views on the theme of the meeting, "The Vocation and the Role of the Laity in the Life and Mission of the Church".  The speakers highlighted the role of the laity and the expectations they had of the Clergy.  Along with Priests, Religious Sisters and Brothers were also invited for the meeting.  Almost a hundred participants attended the meeting.

Pepertual Adorers celebrate anniversary

The Adoration Chapel of the Ranchi Parish celebrated its 3rd anniversary.  So far the register has recorded 2,20,873 visits to the chapel.  Among these people who come to pray, 2,038 people have given their testimonies.  And now Ranchi Cathedral has yet again taken the lead: to start the neo-catechumenal way for their lay faithful.  The people are being initiated in to this way by a specialized team.  The team has further plans to do likewise in other Parishes later.

Three new Priests for Ranchi

This year the Archdiocese is blessed with the ordination of three new priests.  Deacons Bipin Kishore Bilung of Tainser parish, Pradeep Kishore Minj of Tumdegi parish and Robert Minj of Kurdeg parish were ordained priests in their respective parishes by His Lordship, Bishop Vincent Barwa, Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi Archdiocese.  We congratulate the new Ordinandis and wish them a fruitful priestly apostolate.

Ranchi Archdiocese gets two new Deacons

Ulhatu, June 23: His Eminence Telesphore P. Cardinal Toppo ordained Bros. Shishir Surin and Praful Tigga deacons during the Holy Eucharist in Ulhatu Parish.  Around 15 priests and hundreds of people participated in the celebration.  Congratulations and welcome dear Deacons to the fraternity of the Clerics!

St. Albert's Academic year kick off

After the Students returned to their Alma Mater on June 30, they begun their annual retreat to get themselves spiritually recouped.  And on July 9, invoking God blessings during celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided by His Eminence, Telesphore P. Cardinal Toppo, the Academic year kicked off.  Swami Sashakananda from Ram Krishna Mission, Bariatu, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony. This day also saw the unveiling of the bigger-than-life statute of the St. Albert, the Patron of the College.

Feast of St. Albert's celebrated

The Feast of St. Albert was once again celebrated with much pomp and gaiety on July 17.  Bishop Vincent Barwa presided over the Eucharistic celebration.  The Theologians were lucky to win the traditional football match 2-1 against the Philosophers.  The Philosophers whose aimless feet hit the goalposts a couple of times were deprived them of a sure victory.

St. Albert's gets a face lift

On July 24, the imposing new layout of the St. Albert's premises was inaugurated as dignitaries including 22 Bishops walked on it.  Any Alumni or visitor now coming to St. Albert's will be welcomed by a red carpet well laid out leading up to the new St. Albert's Auditorium and the Library.  The latter were inaugurated by His Eminence, Telephore P. Cardinal Toppo and blessed by His Lordship, Bishop Charles Soreng.

Cardinal Toppo Felicitates First Lady President of India

News Delhi, July 23: On behalf of the Catholic Church in India, the President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, Cardinal Telesphore Toppo has sent "cordial felicitations and good wishes' to the newly elected "the First Lady President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil.

Twenty one Bishops attend BIJHAN

SDC, Ranchi: The annual BIJHAN Bishops' Regional Council was attended by 21 Bishops.  The meeting which was held from August 22 to 26 was packed with marathon meetings through out the day.

Cardinal Toppo Releases Catholic Education Policy

New Delhi, May 31, 2007: "Education is the key to the development of India and Catholic education is integral to the very mission of the Church", declared Cardinal Telesphore Toppo, President of CBCI. Cardinal Toppo was releasing the "All India Catholic Education Policy 2007" today, May 31 at the CBCI Centre, New Delhi.
