URSULINE SISTERS OF THE CONGREGATION OF TILDONK

The Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk was founded in Belgium by Fr. John Cornelius Martin Lambertz in 1818.  The Sisters adopted the Rules of the Ursulines of Bordeaux, France, which had been founded by St. Angela Merici in 1535, and had spread out in France and other countries of Europe in the 16th century.

The Ursulines arrived in Ranchi and Chotanagpur mission on January 13, 1903 and took up education of girls, health, catechesis, social and pastoral works, promotion of women through education, various kinds of training and grihini schools to further evangelization and propagation of faith initiated by the Jesuit Missionaries.
