MONFORT BROTHERS OF ST. GABRIEL

Monfort Brothers of St. Gabriel were founded in France by St. Louis Marie de Montfort, the Brothers came to India in 1903.  After overcoming the normal initial difficulties, the congregation started spreading its roots in Tamilnadu and gradually spread to other States in the South first and then to the North.

The rothers in India today are engaged in general and vocational education of children, the handicapped, rural development programmes, village literacy etc.

The Brothers came to Chotanagpur (Archdiocese of Ranchi) in 1955 at the invitation of Archbishop Nicholas Kujur, S.J.  Candidate House in the Archdiocese at present.
